We dedicate a large portion of our time to reptiles, because we believe they are the most misunderstood and most likely to be neglected animals in the pet trade. In addition, they are often sold to people who are unaware of their eventual size, care requirements and proper housing. Not only do we take in all varieties of reptiles, we also participate in the conservation of protected and endangered species and the removal of invasives from our local area. Some of those animals are deemed worthy of adoption by qualified and experienced (or willing to learn) keepers.
Reptiles listed for adoption are all eating well and health checked. If you would like to surrender, foster, or adopt a reptile, please fill out our Adoption Screening Form or contact our Adoption Coordinator by email at Laura@straypride.org.

For example, did you know NYC residents are banned from having pythons and boas of any kind? That includes Ball Pythons, one of the most common pet reptiles!
We pride ourselves in having the lowest adoption fee of all NYC-based rescues.
Are you aware of NY’s 4-inch rule regarding the sale of pet turtles?
